7 facts on away game at Werder Bremen

After three victories in succession, Bayern want to continue their run away to Werder Bremen on Matchday 25. Which winning streaks the Reds can still defend and why Robert Lewandowski could go down in the Bundesliga history books again on Saturday can all be found in the facts and stats on this weekend's game.

1. Bayern setting the pace in record clash

When the two teams met at the Allianz Arena earlier in the season (1-1), Werder Bremen picked up their first point against Bayern since September 2010.

Bayern and Bremen meet for the 110th time in the Bundesliga – it is the record clash in the history of Germany's top flight. FCB clearly have their noses in front with 57 wins and Werder Bremen have only left the pitch as winners 26 times (26 draws). The record champions have certainly set the pace in recent times, with Werder only picking up one point in the last 20 Bundesliga matches against Bayern – that was a 1-1 draw earlier in the season at the Allianz Arena.

2. FC Bayern marksmen score anywhere

Since the start of last season, Bayern have scored an impressive 72 goals away from home, which is the best return in the league. Over the same period, Bremen have only netted 26 Bundesliga goals at home, which is the lowest number of all teams who have been in the Bundesliga continuously since then.

3. Lewandowski on the heels of two Bundesliga legends

Robert Lewandowski has scored an incredible 31 goals after 24 games, which is five more than Bayern legend Gerd Müller had at the same point in his record season of 1971/72 when he scored 40 times. With another goal against Bremen, the Pole could not only move closer to the record set by Der Bomber but he would also have caught up Klaus Fischer (268 Bundesliga goals) as the second-highest goalscorer in the history of the Bundesliga.

4. Lewandowski ahead of personal best

The reigning World Player of the Year has only failed to score against two of the 17 Bundesliga opponents this term: Against Leipzig and the next opponents from Bremen. Lewandowski has scored 31 goals and provided six assists this season. His next goal involvement would equal the record set by the top striker last season (38) – no player has registered more goal involvements than the Pole in 2019/20 since records have been kept.

5. Bremen expert I: Thomas Müller

Thomas Müller has registered more goal involvements in the Bundesliga against Werder (24; 10 goals and 14 assists) than he has any against other team. Since such records have been kept, no other player has provided as many assists against an opponent in the top flight as Müller has against Bremen (14).

6. Bremen expert II: Manuel Neuer

Manuel Neuer has been on the winning side in 20 of his 25 Bundesliga games against Werder (three draws, two defeats). No player has ever clocked up more wins against an opponent in the Bundesliga.

7. Bayern with record-breaking mentality

FCB have already earned 22 points after going behind in the Bundesliga this season, the highest number in the league ahead of Frankfurt (16). Bayern have only picked up more points from losing positions twice in their Bundesliga history over a whole season: That was 23 points in both 1973/74 and 2005/06.
