Seven facts on the victory over Leipzig
Bayern extended their lead in the table on Easter Saturday with a hard-fought 1-0 win at their closest rivals RB Leipzig and took a giant step towards defending their title. Find out which records were broken in the clash between Germany's top two teams and which statistics suggest that the trophy will stay in Munich this summer:
1. Seven points have always been enough at this point
Hansi Flick's team are now seven points ahead of Leipzig. A seven-point lead has never before been squandered at such a late stage in the season in Bundesliga history (the maximum was five points).
2. FCB on a roll
Bayern celebrated their seventh consecutive competitive win in Leipzig. The Munich team have won 14 of their last 16 games in the Bundesliga (one draw, one defeat).
3. Longest goal-scoring run in German footballing history
Leon Goretzka's winner saw FC Bayern score in their 62nd consecutive competitive match - a record for a German professional team since the Bundesliga was introduced in 1963. The last match Bayern didn't score in was the goalless draw against Leipzig on 9 February 2020.
4. Strong record against the Bulls
FCB put an end to Leipzig's run of eight Bundesliga matches without defeat. Munich have only lost one of their 12 competitive matches against the side from Saxony, winning six and drawing five.
5. Müller almost always involved
Thomas Müller provided the assist for the match-winner. The native Bavarian has been involved in 11 of Bayern's 29 goals in his last ten league matches, scoring four and setting up seven goals. Müller boasts 15 assists so far, the highest number of all Bundesliga players this season.
6. Hernández unbeatable in the league
Bayern have contested 23 league matches with Lucas Hernández in the starting XI so far this term and lost none of them, winning 19 and drawing four.
7. Alaba surpasses Ribéry
David Alaba contested his 274th Bundesliga match for Bayern on Saturday, overtaking Franck Ribéry. The Austrian is now the non-German player with the most Bundesliga appearances in FCB colours. Alaba boasts nine Bundesliga titles, the same number as Ribéry, but after the victory over Leipzig chances are he will surpass Ribéry in this regard too.
Leon Goretzka scored the match-winner on Saturday.
