It was lederhosen instead of kits for the FC Bayern players and staff as they took part in the traditional Paulaner lederhosen photoshoot following the 3-2 win against Köln. The annual event at the Nockherberg was a particularly special occasion for new head coach Julian Nagelsmann, who follows Franz Beckenbauer as the only coach in the club’s history to be from Upper Bavaria. It meant he cut an especially good and authentic look in his lederhosen. New signings Dayot Upamecano and Omar Richards also looked the part as they toasted the new season with their teammates with a Paulaner 0.0% wheat bear.
Check out the photos from the lederhosen shoot:
Nagelsmann: “I’ve got a few designs, all quite traditional. Where I grew up, you can basically wear lederhosen to church every Sunday.”
It was also a record for Thomas Müller as he donned the special lederhosen for a 13th time, and he’s aiming to make further history this season: “It’s very important for me that we make it 10 titles in a row. No team in Europe’s top five leagues has ever done that before.”
