AFCON: Choupo-Moting's Cameroon through to last 16

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Cameroon are already through to the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations! The Indomitable Lions beat Ethiopia 4-1 on Thursday evening to qualify for the knockout stages with their second win in their second group match. Having come off the bench in the opening game against Burkina Faso, the Bayern striker started for the hosts this time and was brought off after nearly an hour.

Cameroon come from behind again

Just as they did in the opener on Sunday, Cameroon had to overturn a deficit initially. Dawa Hotessa (4') put the underdogs in front early on, but Toko Ekambi provided a prompt reply just four minutes later. It remained an even contest until half-time, and then the hosts stepped it up. Vincent Aboubakar's quickfire brace (53', 55') gave them the advantage, before Ekambi struck again (67') to wrap up the three points. Cameroon can now confirm themselves as group winners when they play Cape Verde next Monday (17:00 CET).
