It was the spectacular end to a strong first half of the season. In the 4-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg on the final Bundesliga matchday of 2021, Leroy Sané once again showed all his skill and scored with a remarkable curling strike to make it 3-0 for Bayern. It was a great goal and another statement from the 25-year-old about how good his form is at the moment.
The winger has secured the FC Bayern Goal of the Month award for the third time this season. With 31 percent of the votes cast, Sané was ahead of Robert Lewandowski's scissor kick to complete the scoring against the Wolves (24%) and Serge Gnabry's equally fantastic finish to make it 1-0 in Stuttgart (19%) at the top of the fan poll.
Last year's tally already matched
Sané doesn't just score goals, he also performs regularly. His strike against Wolfsburg marked his 21st goal contribution (11 goals, 10 assists) in competitive games in the first half of the season, which means he has already matched his figures from the entirety of last season. We are excited to see what the Germany international will do in 2022.
Sané also won the Goal of the Month for October:
