FC Bayern's Germany internationals played out their second 1-1 draw in succession as they were held by England on Tuesday in the UEFA Nations League. A good assist from Joshua Kimmich for Jonas Hofmann saw the hosts take the lead at the Allianz Arena on 51 minutes, before Harry Kane rescued the visitors a point with a penalty two minutes from time. It follows Germany's draw by the same score in Italy three days earlier, leaving Die Mannschaft third in Group A3 on two points, but still well in with a chance of making the semi-finals.
Four Bayern players in starting XI
National team boss Hansi Flick gave starts on their home ground to Kimmich, who received his award for Germany Player of the Year 2021 before the game, as well as captain Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala. Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane were three other FCB players to come on during the match.
Musiala busy, Kimmich tees up opener
The game started at a pace, with Musiala especially busy against the country he long called home. The 19-year-old also had the best chance of the first half shortly before the break, but fired straight into the arms of Jordan Pickford. Kimmich then found Hofmann with a fine through ball after the restart to give the home side the advantage.
Müller came inches away from doubling the lead when he was denied by Pickford from a narrow angle. At the other end, Neuer produced a good stop to thwart Kane from close range. However, the England captain would get another chance after Nico Schlotterbeck brought him down in the box. He then converted to level with two minutes to go.
