Day 4 of the Audi Summer Tour was marked by several events in the afternoon after the final training session in the morning at Audi Field. From the White House tour to the embassy reception, we were there for you. Find out all about what happened Stateside on Thursday:
Team thrilled by White House tour
President Herbert Hainer, CEO Oliver Kahn, board member for marketing Andreas Jung and the all the players and staff got to go on a tour of the White House after the morning session. The team, who were very enthusiastic, got to look around several areas of President Joe Biden’s home and workplace, including the welcome area, the library, the gardens and the diplomatic reception.
Tour party at embassy night
The Bayern team were the guests of deputy chief of mission to the German embassy in Washington on Thursday evening. Axel Dittmann welcomed Julian Nagelsmann’s team and the accompany staff members, also mentioning FCB’s opening friendly victory the day before against the local MLS side. “We’re grateful DC United were also allowed to score two goals,” Dittmann said with a wink. However, that can’t be the case in two days against Manchester City. CEO Kahn was happy to take the hint and thanked Dittmann for the friendly reception. “It was hard for us not to be able to travel to the USA in recent years because we have so many fans here,” Kahn said. That’s why it’s “great to be here again”. The summer evening at the estate near the German embassy was rounded off by a joint goal wall shootout and a quiz between the guests and the FC Bayern players.
Neuer and Pavard get fans excited
It’s rare to get this close to Bayern’s stars. Captain Manuel Neuer and defender Benjamin Pavard took time at the T-Mobile store in North Washington to fulfil fans’ requests for photos and autographs at a meet & greet. “You make my dreams come true,” thanked one wide-eyed American supporter. An event with and for our fans that was perfect.
Final training in Washington
The coaching staff focussed mainly on a small-sided game after the stabilisation drills and a rondo during the final training session at Audi Field. Neuer demonstrated his own usual world-class flying skills before the team takes off for Green Bay tomorrow.
Bayern stimulates discourse in fight against racism
