It’s time to get back to business as the new season approaches. After the first Bayern players completed their obligatory medical and performance tests at the weekend, a group including Sven Ulreich, Dayot Upamecano and new signing Ryan Gravenberch finally took to the pitch at Säbener Straße as the Bundesliga champions completed their first training session of 2022/23 pre-season, although without some international players, who have a few more days off after representing their countries in June.

Supported by several youth players from the FC Bayern Campus, the 100-minute session overseen by head coach Julian Nagelsmann included strength and mobility drills, as well as several small matches. “There were a couple of players from our U23s and a few from our senior squad. It’s firstly about getting into things and getting to know everyone,” the 34-year-old said after the session. “The holidays were longer than usual, so we’re all glad to be back on the pitch again.”
Gravenberch: “Great to be here”
Summer arrival Gravenberch only took part in the first part of training with the team before he, as well as Malik Tillman and Joshua Zirkzee, continued working individually. “It’s great to be here. It was a good session,” the Dutch midfielder said after his debut on the FCB training ground. There are nine training sessions planned for the first week of pre-season at Säbener Straße. Nagelsmann and his team are in action again in the afternoon.
