Squad day off? Not for Sadio Mané and Matthijs de Ligt. The two new FC Bayern signings trained at Säbener Straße this morning. A day after returning from the Audi Summer Tour in the USA, Julian Nagelsmann had given his players the day off to recover. However, Mane, the newly crowned African Player of the Year, and de Ligt put in an extra shift under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Holger Broich (scientific director & head of fitness). There were a number of intensive drills on the agenda in midsummer temperatures. The two new FC Bayern players certainly worked up a sweat.
Mané left the Summer Tour on Thursday to travel to Rabat (Morocco) for the Africa Player of the Year award and then he flew on to Munich. De Ligt, who joined FCB last Tuesday, joined the team in the USA immediately after his medical check and contract signing.
Sarr and Schenk train on their own
Bouna Sarr completed an individual training session.
Bouna Sarr, who did not travel to the USA due to a knock, and youth keeper Johannes Schenk worked on their own on a neighbouring pitch. The first full training session after the Audi Summer Tour is on Tuesday. That marks the start of final preparations for the DFL Supercup on Saturday (20:30 CEST) at RB Leipzig.
