What's up, Jamal?

The USA up close with Jamal Musiala! We met up with the 19-year-old FC Bayern shooting star every evening in the team hotel. In his diary, the Germany international takes you to Washington DC and Green Bay on the Audi Summer Tour 2022.

Servus, Bayern fans!

Our USA tour is over, we are a bit tired on Sunday afternoon but we’ve arrived safely Munich. I slept for a couple of hours on the plane and we spent the rest of the time playing video games. We set off later than planned due to severe weather in Green Bay. The thunderstorm was really bad, our friendly at Lambeau Field kicked off late because of it and play was also suspended for an hour.

The storm disturbed our rhythm a bit but the main thing is that we could play. In spite of the weather, there was a really good atmosphere at the stadium with a crowd of over 78,000 and the fans were mega cool. Overall it was a good and important test for us although we lost 1-0 to Manchester City. There aren't many better opponents than City and it didn't feel like a pre-season game. I came on for Leroy on 52 minutes and it felt good after the short break in the middle of the week. Despite the defeat, we can take lots of positives ahead of the start of the season.

After the game, Thomas, Phonzie and I met George Hill and Khris Middleton from the Milwaukee Box NBA team in the stadium and during the USA tour I was always very happy to meet other athletes. All the players we met were cool and really likeable. We always had a couple of things in common that we could talk about.

Before I forget: We had the normal warm-up at the team hotel ahead of the game and after that Josh, Josi and I had a short media interview – it was fun as you can see. 😉

So, my first pre-season tour with FC Bayern is over. It was just cool and great fun even though I'm completely exhausted now. The good thing is that we have a day off on Monday to recover before getting stuck in again on Tuesday with the intense preparations for the Supercup match in Leipzig.

I hope you've enjoyed the diary and perhaps we can do something like it again soon. Best wishes.
