At last! Back on the pitch with the ball at their feet! On Wednesday morning, 60 days after the last competitive match of the 2021/22 season, FC Bayern trained with the complete squad for the first time again. Coach Julian Nagelsmann welcomed the last returnees to team training during the session at Säbener Straße. Captain Manuel Neuer, Benjamin Pavard, Robert Lewandowski, Leroy Sané and Lucas Hernández, who were given a few extra days off after the June internationals, as well as Thomas Müller, who had already trained with the team on Monday, were all back on board. The record champions' players sported the new away kit for the session.

After the last group of returnees had completed their medical checks and performance diagnostics on Tuesday, the squad took to the pitch a day later in perfect conditions with temperatures of 25 degrees. Following a warm-up with stabilisation and coordination exercises, Nagelsmann put his players through their paces with two games with uneven teams before trying out various tactical matchplay situations. First, the team of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Müller and Lewandowski twice managed to keep the upper hand, which meant burpees and push-ups for the losers. In the final game, however, the group with Sané and newcomer Sadio Mané narrowly prevailed. After the 100-minute session, however, the day wasn't yet over for the training returnees, as they then had to give it everything they had in sprint drills!

So Bayern's preparations for the new season are in full swing. With the return of the last few internationals, the crucial phase has begun. On Saturday, the Allianz FC Bayern Team Presentation (tickets) at the Allianz Arena. Afterwards, the record champions will travel to the USA for the 2022 Audi Summer Tour which will run from 18 to 24 July. The first competitive match, the DFL Supercup at RB Leipzig is then scheduled for 30 July.
