Mazraoui: Technically speaking, we're one of the strongest teams

Several FC Bayern players will be involved with their national teams at the 2022 World Cup. In club magazine ‘51’, our boys reveal who we should look out for from their sides, how they rate their chances and who their favourites are. Part 4: Noussair Mazraoui for Morocco.

Interview with Noussair Mazraoui

How do you see your chances?

Mazraoui: "In Croatia and Belgium, we have the 2018 World Cup runners-up and third-place finishers in our group, so that first stage will, correspondingly, be very challenging. However, I think we also have a chance in this group, it depends on our performance. Because I'm convinced of the quality of our team and we all know that we can make history."

What’s special about your team?

"I think that, technically speaking, we're one of the strongest teams who will be at the World Cup. We also have an excellent mix in the team with a lot of young players and some older ones who are already enjoying a great career and can provide the necessary experience."

Which player from your team should fans particularly watch out for?

"We have some big names in the team who play for top European clubs, such as Achraf Hakimi at PSG or Hakim Ziyech at Chelsea. And on top of that, players like Sofiane Boufal, Abdelhamid Sabiri and our goalkeeper Bono. As I said, it's a very interesting mix and a solid axis, but I don't want to single out any one of them."

Who are the favourites for you and why?

"Well, we ourselves, of course. You shouldn't start a journey where you don't believe in a happy ending. And that's why we're going into the tournament with the attitude that we want to win it."

As well as Mazraoui, Alphonso Davies also made his predictions for the World Cup finals in Qatar:
