Three Bayern players with France are just one step away from reaching football's summit - but for Noussair Mazraoui, the dream of the World Cup final is over. On Wednesday evening, Les Bleus beat Morocco 2-0 in the semi-finals and now have the chance to become the first team since Brazil in 1962 to defend the world title.
While Mazraoui came off at half-time for the North Africans, Kingsley Coman, Dayot Upamecano and Benjamin Pavard did not feature for the reigning champions. The two teams produced a high-quality encounter with numerous chances at both ends. After Theo Hernández, brother of injured FCB defender Lucas Hernández, gave France an early lead in the fifth minute, it wasn't until the 79th minute that the net rippled again through Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani, who had only just come on.
Fighting for a third star
Didier Deschamps' men now face Argentina in the final at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Sunday afternoon (16:00 CET). Both teams have been world champions on two occassions and are bidding to get a third star on their shirt. On Saturday (16:00 CET), Mazraoui will go up against Bayern teammate Josip Stanišić and Croatia in the third place playoff.
