FC Bayern come up against 1. FC Köln in their first home game of the new year at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday evening (20:30 CET). Which run are the league leaders looking to extend against the cathedral city club on Matchday 17, and which stats point to a sixth home league win of the campaign for Julian Nagelsmann's side? Find out in the facts and stats on the match.
1. Perfect 10?
Bayern have won each of their last nine encounters with Köln. Out of the current Bundesliga teams, the Munich men only have a longer winning run against FC Schalke 04 at present. The Reds are also unbeaten in 16 games against the Billy Goats, with their last defeat coming almost 12 years ago on Matchday 21 of the 2010/11 season. In the long overall Bundesliga record between the two sides, FCB are also way ahead with 50 wins to 23 losses and 23 draws.
2. FCB already midway champions
Bayern are five points clear of second place following Matchday 16, meaning they will definitely end the first half of the season in top spot. In 15 of the last 16 instances when FCB have been leaders at the midway point, they've also ended up winning the title. Only in the 2011/12 campaign did Borussia Dortmund beat them to it.
3. Fortress Allianz Arena
In front of their own fans at the Allianz Arena, Bayern are virtually unbeatable. Since the 2013/14 season, the Bavarians have suffered just 10 home defeats in the Bundesliga. That stands in contrast to 128 home wins and 22 draws in that time. The Reds have won their last four matches on home soil and scored at least four goals in all of them. Five consecutive Bundesliga home wins with four or more goals would equal a record - only Dortmund in 1964/65 and Werder Bremen in 1979/80 have previously achieved that.
4. Goal machine rolls on
Bayern reached 50 goals for the season in the 1-1 draw at RB Leipzig on Matchday 16. Only FCB themselves reached this mark earlier in a Bundesliga campaign, doing so on Matchday 15 in 1976/77.
5. Choupo-Moting on fire
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting netted his 12th goal in all competitions against Leipzig, a new personal career best in one season for the striker. Seven of those have come in his 11 Bundesliga outings - that's as many as he scored in his first 42 Bundesliga games for Bayern combined.
6. Gnabry's magic touch against Köln
Serge Gnabry has eight goals to his name already this term, and he'll fancy his chances of increasing his individual tally on Tuesday night as the Germany international enjoys scoring more against the 11th-placed visitors than against any other current Bundesliga team. In nine encounters with the Billy Goats, the winger has scored 11 goals, including a brace in each of the last two home games Köln.
