Six defenders in the way? Not a problem for Jamal Musiala, who produced a superb solo run past them all to score in Bayern’s 4-2 win away at Wolfsburg on Matchday 19. The 20-year-old first took out two opponents on the right before four further Wolfsburg defenders failed to dispossess him on his run to goal. A cool finish into the bottom right corner rounded it off as Bayern went 4-1 up in style.
Almost two thirds of votes
Bayern fans were suitably impressed and voted in their droves for Musiala to win the club’s Goal of the Month for February 2023. The Germany international received 61 percent of the votes, coming out well ahead of Kingsley Coman’s first-time finish in the same game (21 percent) and Thomas Müller’s strike against Bochum (10 percent).
First award of the season
Musiala is currently second behind Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the Bayern scoring chart this season with 15 goals, but this is the first of them to be voted the best of the month this season. And given his scoring rate, you wouldn’t be surprised if he got another gong before the campaign was done.
We took a closer look at Musiala and how he plays to mark his 20th birthday in February:
