Since TSG 1899 Hoffenheim were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2008, FC Bayern and die Kraichgauer have met 29 times in the German top flight. Almost 15 years after the first encounter, the 30th Bundesliga match between the two teams will take place on Saturday (15:30 CEST). Read on to find out what signs point to Thomas Tuchel's men maintaining their lead at the top of the table and their winning run in the league.
1. Bayern dominate head-to-head
Hoffenheim have made 14 trips to the Allianz Arena so far, and Bayern have emerged victorious 11 times with two draws. The Munich side have only suffered one defeat at home against TSG. The overall record is also clearly in the favour of FCB with 19 wins, six draws and four defeats.
2. Outstanding goal rate against TSG
FC Bayern's goal average at home against Hoffenheim speaks for itself with 3.1 goals per game. Of the current teams in the top tier of German football, Bayern only have a higher goal average at home against 1. FSV Mainz 05 (3.3 goals per game).
3. FCB looking for fifth home win in a row
After the four most recent league home wins over Borussia Dortmund (4-2), FC Augsburg (5-3), Union Berlin (3-0) and VfL Bochum (3-0), Bayern could make it five in a row for the first time since the autumn of 2021. Incidentally, to kick off that winning streak, Thomas Müller and Co defeated TSG Hoffenheim 4-0.
4. Big returns against teams from the bottom third
It's an impressive record! The German record champions have won the last six Bundesliga games against teams from the bottom third of the table. The only defeat in the last 14 such games was the 1-0 loss to Augsburg last September. During this period, the Reds have won 11 times against teams from the lower region, with two draws.
5. FCB on for Bundesliga record
Bayern have scored 51 first-half goals this season – 52 would equal the Bundesliga record for a club in one season, set by Bayern themselves in 2020/21.
6. Tuchel with strong record against TSG
Thomas Tuchel has only suffered one defeat in his 14 competitive matches against Hoffenheim. In the other 13 games against die Kraichgauer, the Bavarian native emerged victorious eight times and drew five times with former clubs Mainz and Dortmund. In addition, with victory on Matchday 28, Tuchel could become the first Bayern coach since Niko Kovač in 2018 to win his first three Bundesliga games with the record champions.
