It was the scorcher that settled a hard-fought contest. In the Bundesliga game at then fourth-placed SC Freiburg, Matthijs de Ligt scored the only goal of the day – and how! The centre-back received the ball from Jamal Musiala before hammering an unstoppable shot into the top right corner from around 25 metres, which secured an important 1-0 success in Breisgau.

Fans of the German record champions were also impressed by the Dutchman's strike and crowned it their FC Bayern Goal of the Month for April 2023. De Ligt received an impressive 68 percent of the votes, beating Serge Gnabry (12%) and Kingsley Coman's (11%) goals in the 2-0 win over Hertha BSC.
