It was a strike that will live long in the memory of all Bayern fans as Jamal Musiala wrote himself into the history books with another magical moment on the final day of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season. Like Patrik Andersson in Hamburg in 2001, it was in the dying seconds of the campaign when the 20-year-old picked out the bottom corner to earn a 2-1 win away at Köln and snatch the title from Borussia Dortmund.
A clear winner
Fans were in no doubt when asked to pick their favourite strike from May, with 80 percent of all votes going to Musiala’s historic goal. Way behind in second was Kingsley Coman with his opening goal in Cologne (seven percent) and Jovana Damnjanovic’s individual effort in the Women’s record 11-1 win over Turbine Potsdam (six percent).
Second win of 2022/23
It’s the second Goal of the Month accolade this season for the Germany international after his victory in February. Musiala joins Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane and Georgia Stanway as two-time winners this past campaign. And there’s no doubt the youngster will feature again a number of times in the future.
