Josip Stanišić can continue to dream of his first big title with his home nation. The FC Bayern defender played for Croatia in Rotterdam on Wednesday night in a 4-2 victory after extra time against the Netherlands that puts him in the final of the UEFA Nations League. After Donyell Malen gave the visitors the lead (34’), Croatia turned the game round with goals from Andrej Kramarić (55’) and Mario Pašalić (72’). The Netherlands did equalise six minutes into added time with a strike from Noa Lang to force the game into extra time. The winning goals for Croatia were then scored by Bruno Petković (98’) and Luka Modrić (116’ pen.). Stanišić came off the bench on 78 minutes. FCB defender Daley Blind was an unused sub for the Netherlands, Matthijs de Ligt was ruled out with a calf injury.
Final on Sunday
The final of the UEFA Nations League in Rotterdam on Sunday (20:45 CEST) will see Stanišić and Croatia face the winners of the second semi-final between Spain and Italy. The Netherlands will also play on Sunday (15:00 CEST) in Enschede against the losers in the third place play-off.
