The FC Bayern World Squad had a good start to their training camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We reveal here what head coach Roy Makaay's boys have experienced so far:
The start in Buenos Aires
Following the early arrival on 16 June, the day was used purely for an activation walk to get to know the city and prepare the body for the upcoming days.
The first training session
The first proper training session was then scheduled for the following day. For the first time, the team visited the training ground of Argentinos Juniors, footballing legend Diego Maradona's first professional club. The players were able to show off their talents on the hallowed turf where Maradona's career began over 50 years ago. Under the watchful eye of coach Roy Makaay, the team must now grow together as a unit, as the first friendly against Estudiantes De La Plata is coming up on 20 June. To get used to the conditions as quickly as possible, the team will have one or two hard training sessions every day.
In the colourful streets of the Caminito
In addition to the sporting aspect, however, the team still has enough time to get to know the local culture and to promote team spirit off the pitch too. Already on day two, the FC Bayern World Squad visited the famous colourful streets of the Caminito. However, you're never too far away from football in Argentina. On a local street football pitch directly behind the famous Boca Juniors stadium, some players put in an extra "training session" and enjoyed an exciting five-a-side match with local children.
