FC Bayern have extended Malik Tillman’s contract until 2026. At the same time, the 21-year-old will go on loan to Dutch top-flight team PSV Eindhoven for one season. The attacker joined the German record champions’ academy from SpVgg Greuther Fürth in 2015.
“Minutes on the pitch at the highest level”
Jochen Sauer, director of youth development at FC Bayern: “Malik Tillman developed very well during his loan spell in Glasgow. We believe he has great potential, which is why we have extended his contract until 2026. He needs more minutes on the pitch at the highest level to take his next steps. We wish him every success at PSV Eindhoven and will monitor his development very keenly.”
Tillman attracted great attention playing for the Bayern reserves and also the first team at a young age. Among other things, he was part of the squad in the 2020 Champions League tournament victory in Lisbon. So far, he’s scored one goal in seven competitive appearances for the first team, and nine goals in 25 games for the second string. Last season he was loaned out to Scottish Premiership side Glasgow Rangers (43 games/12 goals). Internationally, he’s opted for the USA senior national team, for whom he has made four appearances so far. Prior to that, he came through the German youth teams. In his career, Tillman has celebrated winning the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the German Supercup and the first and third division titles with Bayern.
Academy product Yusuf Kabadayi has also been sent out on loan to gain match practice:
