In the final friendly of the pre-season preparations for the new campaign, FC Bayern boosted their confidence with a 4-2 win over AS Monaco at Sportpark Unterhaching on Monday. "There were a lot of good things in there, but also some things we have to improve on. We're still in the process of preparing," was how midfielder Konrad Laimer summed it up. "We've taken some big steps since the start of pre-season. In general, we're on the right track," added Jamal Musiala. fcbayern.com has compiled the reaction to the final friendly for you.
Reaction to the game against Monaco
Thomas Tuchel: "We did lots of things well, but there's still room for improvement. We started very well, should have taken the lead, but then lost our way a bit due to our own mistakes. But then we stayed calm and deserved to get our lead because we ended the half well. In the second half, I thought we had a bit too much possession in our own half and some moves we could have finished more clinically. Overall, it was a good friendly with a good result, but there's still work to do. We have to keep up the tempo, which is good for us. We have a yardstick coming up with the Supercup. We feel well prepared, but will have to go beyond limits."
Jamal Musiala: "We've taken some big steps since the start of pre-season. I didn't have many other options when I scored the goal and I'm glad it went in. We still have situations we can finish better. We still need some time. In general, though, we're on the right track, and we still have a week to go before the Leipzig game. But we're in good shape and had some good games to get into our rhythm."
Matthijs de Ligt: "There were lots of good things, in some moments we could have done a better job. We can be satisfied with the 4-2. The nice thing is that we're scoring a lot of goals, it's a good step forward. We're optimistic, we've had a good pre-season."
Konrad Laimer: "There were a lot of good things in there, but also some things we have to improve on. We're still in the process of preparing. We had phases here and there where our concentration wasn't that high, we made one or two mistakes too easily. We know what we do well, but also what we don't do so well. Now we have one more week until the first match. We're looking forward to getting going."
Sven Ulreich: "It was fun in to play in front of the crowd, with our fans behind us. We still have some potential, but we've improved from game to game. All in all, we did very well today and also had one or two chances to make the result even better. We're ready and looking forward to getting going again. We want to give our all in the Allianz Arena on Saturday so we can win the trophy."
