A tradition was continued at the Munich Oktoberfest on Saturday as the FC Bayern Legends met for their annual visit at the invitation of partner Paulaner. It saw the likes of Claudio Pizarro, Giovane Élber, Roy Makaay, Christian Nerlinger, Tom Starke and Thomas Helmer making merry in the Paulaner tent.
FC Bayern board member for marketing Andreas Jung was also among the Legends team enjoying the festivities. “It’s an important part of the Bayern family that the Legends are always there. Not only today with this celebration but always whenever we need them. They support us wherever possible. They also still play for us. It’s wonderful,” Jung said.
After the visits in previous years, the Legends spent social hours with the Bayern family this time on the day of Bayern's 7-0 victory over Bochum. “This is a big part of ‘Mia san mia’, meeting old friends and being here with lots of people from the club,” Pizarro explained happily. The last time the Legends had met was at the beginning of September at the charity match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Legends including Bastian Schweinsteiger had already showed their skills at the Allianz FC Bayern Team Presentation at the end of July to mark the 10th anniversary of the Champions League victory at Wembley against Borussia Dortmund.
