Harry Kane: We can be proud of that

"That was probably the best performance of the season," commented Harry Kane after the final whistle. With his brace, the Englishman was once again instrumental in the fully deserved 3-0 win in the top-of-the-table clash at home to VfB Stuttgart. Spirits were suitably high in the Bayern camp after the last home game of 2023. "I'm very pleased, that was anything but a given," said Thomas Tuchel on the victory under difficult conditions. Leroy Sané, meanwhile, set out the message for the coming matches: "That's how we need to play all the time. Brave, confident and doing our jobs." fcbayern.com has rounded up all the reaction for you.

Reaction to the match against Stuttgart

Thomas Tuchel: "I'm very pleased, that was anything but a given. We were very focused and put in a lot of hard work. Stuttgart have a lot of quality and are playing with a lot of confidence. At the beginning we were a bit passive but got better with every minute. It was a deserved win in a tricky, difficult match. That was very good."

Manuel Neuer: "We wanted to give our fans something again today. We got right into the game from the start and defended well, like we did against Manchester United. We conceded very little and waited for the counter situations in attack. Unfortunately we missed one or two chances to score more, but overall we deserved to win and keep the points. It was a successful evening."

Thomas Müller: "We have top-class material in attack. We're very strong in those positions and glad about it too. The early goal played into our hands. We knew that Stuttgart take time in possession. One of our strengths is movement in transition. Of course, we always like to have a bit more dominance, but we're often at our best when using our extremely high pace."

Harry Kane: "That was probably the best performance of the season. After the displays in recent weeks, we wanted to show our dominance today. Our intensity was very good in what was a big game. Everyone did well, including the players who came into the team. We need the entire squad. Overall it was a very good performance today. We can be proud of that."

Leroy Sané: "That's how we need to play all the time. Brave, confident and doing our jobs. The defence was outstanding. Yes, they had a lot of the ball because they're having a great season and playing good football, but we put on a brilliant performance for the fans. So should it continue. The coach said that we need to run, work and fight a lot, like we did against Manchester United. We were also defensively very strong there. We knew that if we produced the same, we'd get our chances going forward. We're strong on the counter and play good football."

Reaction from the Stuttgart camp

Sebastian Hoeneß (coach, VfB Stuttgart): "It was a bad night for us. Sadly we couldn't contribute to it being a top-of-the-table clash. We just never got into the game. Obviously we're disappointed."

Alexander Nübel (goalkeeper, VfB Stuttgart): "It was one of our weakest performances. We weren't brave, didn't get into the duels. Our covering and counter-pressing were a bit sloppy at the start, which is how Bayern were so dominant on the counter and got in on goal several times. That's fatal in Munich. As a result, it was hard enough in the first half and we were a bit lucky to only be 1-0 down at half-time. We didn't get into it in the second half, either. We played sloppy passes again and invited Bayern. Conceding goals from corners hurts."
