Kimmich, Laimer and Upamecano out injured

FC Bayern will be without Dayot UpamecanoKonrad Laimer and Joshua Kimmich for the time being after the trio picked up injuries in Wednesday’s 1-0 win at home to Union Berlin.

Centre-back Upamecano pulled his left hamstring. Laimer, who has mostly played at right-back, tore a muscle in his left calf. Kimmich has been sidelined with an injury to his left shoulder and will also miss Saturday’s Bundesliga visit to Augsburg.

“With Konny and Upa it’s a case of weeks. That obviously hurts,” said head coach Thomas Tuchel of Laimer and Upamecano at his press conference on Friday. Kimmich’s case is tougher to give a precise timescale. “His shoulder first needs to be immobilised. Then we’ll take things one week at a time in terms of the healing process and the pain levels,” the 50-year-old explained.

Bayern are also without long-term absentees Serge Gnabry (muscular), Bouna Sarr (cruciate ligament) and Daniel Peretz (knee), while Minjae Kim and Noussair Mazraoui are still competing with their countries at the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations respectively.
