“I'm happy with the win. But we conceded too many goals and we need to talk about that,” said captain Manuel Neuer after Bayern’s 5-2 win away at Darmstadt in the Bundesliga this Saturday afternoon. Head coach Thomas Tuchel was also satisfied with the result, although he, like his captain, had doubts about the goals that were conceded: “Of course we're happy with a well-deserved away win. But there were still scary moments even after going 1-0 down as they had great chances to score.” fcbayern.com has all the post-match reaction for you here.
Reaction to the game in Darmstadt
Christoph Freund: “In all honesty, we're very satisfied. You could see that the team is having fun, that they enjoy creating chances and scoring goals. That's why we're satisfied, even if we gave away too many chances ourselves.”
Thomas Tuchel: “Of course we’re delighted with a well-deserved away win. We were able to create many chances throughout the game. We deserved to score even more goals than we did. But there were still scary moments even after going 1-0 down as they had great chances to score. We weren't switched on enough and were too complacent in possession. But we have a good mood within the team and a good attitude in training so we’re happy that we were able to continue our run. Now we just hope that everyone will come back from the international break without any injuries.”
Manuel Neuer: “I'm happy with the win. We stuck to our style of play and didn't change anything, even when we were behind. We created chances and then capitalised on them. We also had players on the pitch who make a difference, like Jamal, who is so hard to stop. But we conceded too many goals, we need to talk about that and analyse it.”
Aleksandar Pavlović: “Today was another important win for us. Now I'm excited to be part of the national team and to give it my all.”
Reaction from the Darmstadt camp
Torsten Lieberknecht (head coach): “There was justified criticism after the Augsburg game. Today it was important for us to feel that the fans were behind us. If we want to continue to believe in the big goal of avoiding relegation, then we need the sense of community between fans and the team. We saw a team today that shouldn't have lost by such a margin.”
