No winners in the dress rehearsal for the big event: France, featuring Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman played out a goalless draw against a Canadian side featuring Alphonso Davies on Sunday evening in their final friendly before the European Championship and Copa América respectively. Upamecano (until the 62nd minute) and Davies (until the 84th) both started the game. Coman came off the bench in the 74th minute, marking his comeback on the pitch after suffering an injury to his right adductor muscle in Bayern's 2-0 win over 1. FC Köln in mid-April.
Respectable result for Canada
Despite having more of the ball and the significantly better chances, the Équipe Tricolore failed to find the back of the net in Bordeaux, enabling the Canadians to secure a respectable result against one of the European Championship favourites. France kick off their EURO 2024 campaign in a week's time against Austria (Monday 17 June, 21:00 CEST), followed three days later by Canada's Copa opener against world- and defending champions Argentina (Friday 21 June, 14:00 CEST).
