Opening win for Dayot Upamecano & Kingsley Coman with France against Konrad Laimer's Austria

The first FC Bayern internal clash of the European Championship was played out between Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman! All-rounder Konrad Laimer started on the right wing for Austria. He was substituted in stoppage time.

Game decided by an own goal

Austria started the game boldly against one of the European Championship favourites, creating some good chances of their own - and then went behind just before the break due to an unfortunate own goal: On 38 minutes, Maximilian Weber's attempt to clear a Kylian Mbappé cross ended up in the back of his own net. The game remained open in the second half, as the French failed to add a second goal despite good opportunities. Ultimately, however, Les Bleus held on for the opening win.

The win put Didier Dechamps' side into first place in Group C, level on points with the Netherlands. Austria's next task is a clash this Friday with Poland, who are also yet to record a point, (18:00 CEST), before the Équipe Tricolore take on the Elftal at 21:00 CEST.
