A number of Bayern players were in action on Monday night in friendlies ahead of Euro 2024 in Germany. fcbayern.com rounds up the action.
Five Bayern players for Germany
Monday’s goalless draw with Ukraine in Nuremberg saw Bayern captain Manuel Neuer make his first Germany appearance in 550 days. At the other end of the experience scale, club teammate Aleksandar Pavlović earned his first senior cap. “The past few months have been very exciting for me. Now to make my debut for Germany makes me very proud and happy,” the 20-year-old said afterwards.
Alongside Neuer, coach Julian Nagelsmann also started Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala. Thomas Müller came on in the 59th minute, followed by Pavlović in the 71st. Leroy Sané was suspended. Germany were the dominant side and had the better chances but were unable to find a way through Ukraine’s defences.
Kane wraps things up from the bench
Harry Kane scored England’s final goal in their 3-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Having missed March’s friendlies due to injury, the Three Lions’ captain returned to action from the bench with a goal in the 89th minute at Newcastle’s St. James’ Park.
“Great to be back out there and on the scoresheet. A good win and preparation for the start of the Euros,” Kane posted on X. Like a number of key players, Kane was only introduced in the second half by manager Gareth Southgate. Cole Palmer’s penalty in the 62nd minute opened the scoring, with Trent Alexander-Arnold getting a second in the 85th before Kane wrapped things up.
