FC Bayern have loaned Paul Wanner to Heidenheim until next summer. The 18-year-old attacker gained experience on loan at Elversberg in the second division last season and will now get a chance in Germany’s top flight. Wanner joined the FC Bayern Campus in 2018.
Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director: “Paul Wanner is continuing to develop, got lots of playing time at Elversberg, scored goals and provided assists, and is ready for the next level. The goal now is to permanently learn the level of the Bundesliga. He has every opportunity at Heidenheim to take another big step, with the club also playing in Europe in the Conference League. We’re very pleased with how he’s progressing and will continue to be close by his side.”
Wanner has come through every youth team at the FC Bayern Campus since U14 level and became the youngest player to represent Bayern in the Bundesliga in January 2022. He has since made eight appearances each for the club’s first and second teams, scoring once for the latter. The Germany youth international featured 28 times for Elversberg (six goals), helping the promoted side finish 11th in Bundesliga 2.
