Two days before the start of pre-season, head coach Vincent Kompany and his coaching team visited the FC Bayern Museum at the Allianz Arena. Together with Aaron Danks, René Maric, Floribert N’Galula, Michael Rechner, Walter Gfrerer, Bram Geers and Rodyse Munienge, the 38-year-old Belgian immersed himself in the great history of Germany's most successful club.
During the one-hour tour, the coaching team experienced the club's history up close – from its foundation via the first German championship and promotion to the Bundesliga to the golden 70s. "You always start with the roots. I really wanted to see the museum," said Kompany, who followed the tour attentively and asked many questions. The new head coach was particularly interested in the development of the FCB women's team. "Of course you know a lot about FC Bayern," he added. "I've also played against Bayern many times, but now I know even more."
The fans who paid a visit to the FC Bayern Museum were also pleasantly surprised to see the new boss, with Kompany fulfilling numerous photo requests. One supporter called out as he was leaving: "Good luck, coach!"
