World Final 2024: A weekend full of emotion and talent

The World Final of the FC Bayern Youth Cup 2024 reached its climax last weekend in Herzogenaurach and delivered what it promised as young players from all over the world battled it out to win the tournament and provided some special moments on and off the pitch. The FC Bayern Youth Cup, a central component of the FC Bayern Pathway, once again proved that it is one of the outstanding youth tournaments in Europe. This year, talented youngsters from Korea, Mexico, Rwanda, India, Argentina and the USA demonstrated their skills in impressive fashion.

The scouting team, which followed the matches closely and was prominently staffed, deserves special mention. Roy Makaay, Klaus Augenthaler, Diego Contento and Bernd Dreher noted the strengths and weaknesses of each individual player in detail, and one or two of them could soon be given a place in the FC Bayern Pathway.

After third-place finishes in the last two finals, the 10 scouted youngsters from Argentina managed to win the cup this year, prevailing 2-0 over Team USA in a thrilling final. The players and coaches of the winning team were equally delighted and even celebrated by dancing.

Special attention was paid to the tournament's MVP, Yeonjae Jung from Korea. The attacker not only impressed with his technical ability but also with his finishing, which also earned him the top scorer award. Jung impressively represented the new generation of young South Korean players who want to establish themselves on the international stage. Team Korea took third place. Yeonjae will of course be a member of the FC Bayern World Squad 2025 and Maximilian Deisenhofer from the USA was honoured as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

adidas CEO and Rwandan ambassador in attendance

Björn Gulden, CEO of adidas, and the ambassador of Rwanda, Igor Cesar, also added to the appreciation of the final. Both were keen to interact with the young players and were enthusiastic spectators.

Challenges at Säbener Straße

Before the World Final 2024 started, the teams faced exciting tasks at the Station Training Challenge at Säbener Straße. Here, the teams from Korea, the USA, Mexico and the FC Bayern Campus Training Team proved their versatility and were able to secure victory.

As a reward, they were allowed to stay at the adidas Home Ground during the tournament, in the same rooms where the Germany national team stayed during Euro 2024.

In the end, it was confirmed once again that the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Final is an important part of international youth football. Players from around the world find a platform here where they can showcase themselves and their skills. The tournament also promotes the important exchange between cultures, both on and off the pitch. There was time to get to know and engage with each other. Together, everyone experienced an unforgettable tournament. And there are some who are confident that they will take the next important steps in their development in the coming months.
