FC Bayern vs. Augsburg: The facts ahead of the Bavarian derby

Five wins without conceding, a club record for the head coach and an impressive run at home against the upcoming opponents - FC Bayern's stats are looking good ahead of the clash with neighbours FC Augsburg at the Allianz Arena on Friday evening (20:30 CET). We've put together all the key facts relating to the match for you.

The Bavarian bulwark is solid

The defence is solid - and how! Thanks to a commanding performance and Jamal Musiala's golden goal, FC Bayern celebrated their fifth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions on the last matchday with a 1-0 win at St. Pauli. The last time the German record champions achieved this was a good eight years ago, when the men from Munich won all of their first five competitive matches of the season without conceding a single goal under then new coach Carlo Ancelotti. A look at the stats proves that the current run isn't just down to luck: Vincent Kompany's side have allowed their opponents by far the fewest big chances of any team in the Bundesliga (ten in ten games) - in the last four games in this competition, the defence featuring Minjae Kim and his teammates have allowed just one major chance.

Kompany with club record

What a way to start your career at FC Bayern: head coach Kompany has picked up 26 points from his first ten Bundesliga games in the Bayern dugout, setting a club record in the process. Only Pep Guardiola in 2013 and Branko Zebec in 1968 had previously picked up as many points (converted) from their first ten Bundesliga games with FCB.

Augsburg poor on the road - Bayern in superb form at home

With their fans behind them, Bayern are difficult to beat: in a stretch reaching back to last season, the men from Munich have lost just one of their last 17 competitive matches at the Allianz Arena (W14 D2) - a 2-0 defeat to Dortmund at the end of March. Their opponents Augsburg also prefer to play at home: on the road, they have the longest winless run in the league (seven games, six of which they lost) and are 17th in the away table with just a single point. With just two goals, FCA also have the weakest attack away from home. That could remain the case for the time being, as Bayern have conceded the fewest goals at home (one - the same as Leipzig).

Pulling away

Leipzig's 0-0 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach before the international break means that the Bavarians are already five points clear of second place. This is the biggest lead the league leaders have had over their closest rivals for nine years: in 2015/16, Bayern won all ten games at the start of the campaign in Pep Guardiola's last season in Munich and were seven points ahead of Borussia Dortmund.

Impressive home record against Augsburg

Bayern have won 12 of the 14 competitive matches against Augsburg at the Allianz Arena so far. Since their only home defeat against them in May 2015, the Reds are unbeaten in ten clashes with FCA at their own stadium (nine wins) - long may it continue!

Musiala in top form - will he break his duck at home?

Musiala has scored six goals in his last five appearances for FCB, only failing to net in the 3-0 win against Union Berlin on Matchday 9. After bagging all of his first seven goals of the season away from home, he recently proved in the 1-0 win against Benfica that he can also find the back of the net in Munich. However, his last home goal in the league came a few months ago (in the 8-1 win against 1. FSV Mainz 05 in March). It's not the only drought the Germany international would like to end on Friday: in seven Bundesliga clashes against Augsburg, he's never been directly involved in a goal. It's his longest spell against any club in the top flight without contributing a goal or an assist.
