Bayern reaction to the Champions League play-off draw
Max Eberl (board member for sport): “Anyone who knows football knows that Glasgow’s Celtic Park is an extraordinary stadium in Europe. We’re really looking forward to the game there and the two legs against a good opponent. It’ll be two great games of football for fans. Celtic are about passion and fighting spirit. It’ll be a big challenge. Our goal is clearly to progress to the last 16. We’ll have to give everything in the two legs to do that.”
Christoph Freund (sporting director): “Celtic play good football and have been a major side in their league for years. They’re also in very good form. In addition there’s the emotional atmosphere inside Celtic Park. We’re looking forward to two great games.”
Serge Gnabry: “They’ll be two difficult games, but we’re excited. It’s a new opponent for me. You always like new experiences as a player. Jo [Kimmich] told me it was one of the best atmospheres he’s ever experienced, so I’m really excited about it. Celtic have a good team. We’d hoped to finish in the top eight. Now we’re in the play-offs, have to accept that and are excited about the games.”
Thomas Müller: “I’ve never played away at Celtic, didn’t play in the group game there. The atmosphere in the stadium must be incredible. We’re really looking forward to it. Things come thick and fast with back-to-back weeks in February, so let’s rock it!”
