Still unbeaten at home: Bayern's unbelievable run against Wolfsburg

At the press conference following Wolfsburg's emphatic 5-1 win at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach in midweek, VfL head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl had every reason to appear confident. Nevertheless, the Austrian remained restrained looking ahead to the next matchday. "We're travelling to Munich now, where it's a very tall order," explained Hasenhüttl. "We're in for another tough task on Saturday."

Whether the coach only had the current positions in the table in mind ahead of the trip to the league leaders or also the history, only he knows. However, the fact is: the order has literally not been as tall for any other team in Bundesliga history as it has for the Wolves away to the German record champions.

No home defeats in 31 competitive meetings

Wolfsburg have stepped out on Bayern's home turf 27 times in the German top flight, and other than two draws, the Lower Saxony side have never come away with anything. No other team in the league's history have visited one opponent so often without once winning. In the sides' four meetings in the DFB Cup in Munich, too, FCB have always come out on top.

Bayern are currently on a six-match winning run at home to the Wolves, conceding just one goal in the process. Yet Vincent Kompany and his team also know that's the past and Saturday starts from scratch again. After all, any team that can beat Mönchengladbach 5-1 is also capable, in theory, of coming away from the Allianz Arena with points.
