The FC Bayern players finally have the ball back at their feet again! After the obligatory medical assessments and performance diagnostics on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, the players headed out onto the pitch at Säbener Straße on Wednesday afternoon for the first time since the FIFA Club World Cup. Under the guidance of head coach Vincent Kompany, new signing Luis Díaz was also involved in the first training session of pre-season.
The 28-year-old’s move from Liverpool to Munich was only officially announced on Wednesday morning. The Colombian attacker is also set to bei included in the Bayern squad for the first time in the friendly against Lyon on Saturday afternoon at the Allianz Arena.

The programme for Wednesday’s training session featured a warm-up with gymnastic and strengthening exercises followed by primarily gentle playing drills. The goalkeepers followed an individual programme, joining in with the outfield players at points during the session.

In the morning, Thomas Müller took the opportunity to keep himself fit at Säbener Straße with an individual session ahead of his next move. The contract of Bayern’s record appearance maker expires on 1 August.

First competitive game on 16 August
With two and a half weeks until the first competitive fixture – the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup at VfB Stuttgart on 16 August – the focus for the Munich men is on laying the groundwork for a successful campaign. The squad will gather again on Thursday morning for the next session, the first quarter of an hour of which you can watch live and for free on FC Bayern TV. In addition, the German champions will play three friendlies against Lyon (2 August), Tottenham Hotspur (7 August) and Grasshopper Club Zürich (12 August).
