With pace and real finesse – Fans choose Michael Olise's strike as FC Bayern’s Goal of the Month for August

Explosive acceleration, irresistible dribbling and a clinical finish with real finesse! In his first competitive match following the summer break, Michael Olise impressively demonstrated that he had lost none of his outstanding abilities whilst on holiday after the World Cup. In the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup at Borussia Dortmund, the French winger pounced on a misplaced pass in Dortmund’s build-up play in first-half stoppage time, drove into the penalty area, left Ramy Bensebaini in his wake and, from a tight angle, slotted the ball past Gregor Kobel into the far corner with the outside of his foot.

Olise’s stunning piece of play in Bayern’s 2–1 victory in Der Klassiker also left a lasting impression on the German record champions’ fans, who chose the strike as their Goal of the Month for August.

Olise received 45 per cent of the votes cast, pushing Luis Díaz’s goal in the 2-1 friendly win against Aston Villa (25 per cent) and Klara Bühl’s goal against Union Berlin (19 per cent) into second and third place respectively. Having already secured the coveted fan award in April and May last season, the attacking maestro has now kicked off the new campaign by picking up where he left off.
