Four Bayern players lose to Greece with Germany

Four Bayern players featured as Germany were beaten 1-0 by Greece in the UEFA Nations League for Jürgen Klopp’s first home game.

90 minutes for Kimmich, Tah and Brown

Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah and Nathaniel Brown all started and finished the game in Augsburg as Germany generally had more possession but were unable to find a way through the compact Greek defence. Dimitrios Kourbelis then scored the decisive goal for the visitors in the 74th minute. Serge Gnabry came on for the final quarter of an hour.

Speaking after the game, captain Kimmich said: “It definitely wasn’t a good performance. It’s obviously unfortunate to lose this way. We had difficulties breaking their deep block. With a bit of luck, we could’ve scored a goal, but on the whole our play was too static. We lacked ideas up front.”

Tah also expressed his frustration with the display: “It wasn’t an easy game. To be honest, we weren’t good enough. Obviously we had some chances where we posed a danger. If we’d taken them, the game maybe would’ve gone differently. But we couldn’t make the most of what they offered us, like the fact they didn’t really put us under pressure early on, meaning we could’ve dominated with our greater possession. We also had chances to counter but didn’t manage to create chances or use any of them.”
