Hello and welcome to the FC Bayern Campus, Germany! In preparation for the upcoming Nations League game against Serbia at the Allianz Arena, the squad, led by new coach Jürgen Klopp, held an activation session at the Campus on Thursday morning. For two former FC Bayern youth players, Aleksandar Pavlović and Lennart Karl, it was also a special moment to return to their former stomping ground.
Jürgen Klopp also paid a visit to the record champions at their training ground at the end of August:
Activation session ahead of the international in Munich
The German national team kicked off the first of the new-style extended international breaks last week with a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Greece in the Nations League. The clash against Serbia is now the third of four matches scheduled. A few hours ahead of kick-off at Munich’s Allianz Arena (20:45 CEST), an activation session was held at the Record German champions' youth performance centre, led by head coach Jürgen Klopp. Germany round off the international break with a second game against Greece on Sunday evening (20:45 CEST). Alongside the German squad, the Serbian national team will also be holding training sessions at the Campus in the days following tonight's match.
A special moment for two Campus lads
For Pavlović and Karl, the visit with the national team felt like coming home. Both represented various Bayern youth teams at the Campus and know the place inside out. Alongside FCB teammates Tom Bischof, Serge Gnabry and Jonas Urbig – who also play for FC Bayern and are part of the national team – they took part in the activation session ahead of tonight's game.
There was also a happy reunion between the Bender twins: whilst Lars is head coach of FC Bayern’s U17s, Sven is an assistant coach on Klopp’s staff. Bernhard Seonbuchner, head of player and coach development and transition, and Klopp also met again for the first time in a while; the two know each other from their time together in the RB universe.
