Unveiling at the club museum

Philipp Lahm is the 17th legend inducted into Hall of Fame

Philipp Lahm hung up his boots more than a week ago, but a special honour was still pending: the long-time Bayern captain was officially inducted into FC Bayern's Hall of Fame. He was brimming from ear to ear when his star was unveiled at the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt. "It's an honour, it means a lot to me to be inducted into the circle of the club's legends," the 33-year-old told journalists at the club museum.

FC Bayern München AG chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and FC Bayern München e. V. president Uli Hoeneß were present at the Erlebniswelt. "The Hall of Fame hasn't been extended since its inauguration in 2012, but we've known for a long time Philipp Lahm would be the first new member after his playing career," said Rummenigge. Uli Hoeneß stressed: "Philipp's performances, his successes and his merit can't be overstated." As a member of the Hall of Fame, Lahm now stands alongside the greatest legends to have played for the German record champions, just as the two personalities who were present at the Erlebniswelt. Lahm has joined the likes of Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Sepp Maier, Lothar Matthäus, Bixente Lizarazu, Giovane Elber and Mehmet Scholl.

Lahm remembers all of his 21 titles, bringing his last trophy with him

Lahm only recently celebrated his eighth and last championship title, when he was handed the trophy on the Allianz Arena pitch before presenting it to a crowd of 15,000 fans at Marienplatz and celebrating with his teammates on the Town Hall balcony. Lahm brought the trophy for the fifth championship title in a row with him, carefully depositing the shield in a display cabinet at the Erlebniswelt.

Lahm has worn FC Bayern colours for 22 years, including a two-year spell at VfB Stuttgart, and has played a massive part in the club's great triumphs during this time. He remembered each of his 21 titles at the Erlebniswelt. "Of course I remember them all," said Lahm, proudly wearing the traditional Bavarian jacket Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß handed him.

Fans can marvel at the original championship shield at the Erlebniswelt before it is replaced by a replica at the beginning of August. It is well worth seeing, as is Philipp Lahm's new, glittering star in the Hall of Fame. Every Bayern fan should plan a visit to the club museum during the summer break, it is worth it!
