After being eliminated from the DFB Cup in the semi-finals against Wolfsburg last weekend, FC Bayern Women's full focus is on getting the next three points in the Bundesliga. Alexander Straus' side host SC Freiburg on Saturday 22 April, kicking off at 13:00 CEST at the FC Bayern Campus. The state of play, pre-match quotes, team news – it's all in the preview.

The state of play

The Munich girls are still unbeaten in the Bundesliga in 2023, and have not dropped a single point at the Campus over the whole season. The aim is to maintain that excellent record against their Freiburg counterparts. Last time out in the league, Bayern claimed a 2-0 win at SV Meppen, with Lina Magull and Georgia Stanway the goalscorers.

The opponents

Freiburg travel to Munich hoping to end a miserable run of five consecutive defeats in the league. Theresa Merk's team are currently sixth in the table, but with no chance of a European place. The Black Forest club were successful in the DFB Cup, though: a late 1-0 win over promoted Bundesliga 2 side RB Leipzig earned them a place in the cup final.

The statistics

The statistics speak clearly for FCB Women: in 41 Bundesliga encounters, Munich have won 30, with four draws and seven victories for Freiburg.

The team news

Long-term absentees Linda Dallmann (syndesmosis), Giulia Gwinn (cruciate ligament) and Franziska Kett (shoulder) are unavailable against Freiburg.

The pre-match quotes

Head coach Alexander Straus: "Freiburg are a really good team. They showed in the first half of the season that they have an impressive, young group and can score lots of goals. They've not been able to show that as much in recent weeks, but they still have the quality to give us a hard game and players who can score goals against every team. They're no easy opponents."

Sarah Zadrazil: "We're looking forward to the contest. At Freiburg we did a good job of exploiting their weaknesses, which will be the aim again this time. I'm looking forward to another home match and the chance to go some way to making amends for our performance against Wolfsburg. We want to put on a good performance for the fans who will hopefully come to the stadium again."
