FCB Women celebrate deserved 3-0 victory in Potsdam
- Seventh win in a row over Potsdam
- Stanway, Magull and Dallmann score
- Two more away games coming up
Away win for FC Bayern Women! Following the international break, FCB beat Turbine Potsdam 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in a rearranged Matchday 11 fixture in the FLYERALARM Women's Bundesliga. The clash, originally scheduled for 5 February 2023, had to be cancelled at short notice earlier this month due to the poor quality of the pitch. Georgia Stanway gave Munich an early lead at the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion (10'). Lina Magull increased the lead to 2-0 before the break (35'). Linda Dallmann made it 3-0 just before the final whistle (90+1').
After the 2-1 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the opening game of 2023, head coach Alexander Straus's team have started the new year with two victories. This was the seventh game in a row where the Frauen have emerged victorious against Potsdam.
Dallmann and Rall in the starting XI
Straus made two changes to his starting line-up from the game against Eintracht Frankfurt. Maximiliane Rall started instead of Tainara in defence and Linda Dallmann replaced Sydney Lohmann in attack. Lohmann and Tainara were absent due to muscle problems after the international break.
Deserved half-time lead
The Bavarians were in control from the start and took the lead after just ten minutes. After a pass from Carolin Simon, Stanway started a great solo run, danced through the opposition penalty area and scored with her right foot (10'). And the next chance came immediately: a blocked shot from distance by Sarah Zadrazil landed with Rall, but her shot hit the right side netting (17'). The Munich women kept pressing for the second goal. After a pass from Klara Bühl, Simon swung in a cross from the left, Lea Schüller was in the right place, but could not convert the chance (20'). Magull ultimately rewarded FCB with the long overdue second goal. Bühl's cross was blocked, the ball landed at the captain's feet and she finished into the top right corner (35'). Shortly before the break, Stanway almost scored a second. The 2022 Euros champion made contact with a Magull cross from the left, but failed to beat Potsdam keeper Anna Wellmann from close range (44').
Dallmann with last-minute goal
After the break, FCB were still the dominant team. Stanway passed to Schüller, but Wellmann was able to clear her shot from 11 metres (53'). A low Simon free-kick almost forced an own goal, but Wellmann saved again (65'). Two minutes later, Bühl moved inside at the edge of the penalty area and shot just past the right post (67'). The best chance for Potsdam fell to Amber Barrett, who headed just over the crossbar after a pass from Wibke Meister (75'). Dallmann scored in the final seconds: after a Simon cross she finished with her right foot, wrapping up a 3-0 win for the Frauen (90+1').
