- Padilla-Bidas makes competitive debut
FC Bayern Women extended their perfect record against Leipzig on Sunday. José Barcala’s team beat RB Leipzig 3-0 in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga. The fifth victory in the fifth match against the side from Saxony means the double winners top the table on six points from two matches. Lena Oberdorf (10’, 57’) handed the away side an early lead and doubled the advantage after the restart. Vanessa Gilles (90’+1) added the final flourish. Natalia Padilla-Bidas made her competitve debut for Munich.

Oberdorf on target
FCB got off to a good start and imposed their passing game. Momoko Tanikawa set up Pernille Harder, but Leipzig keeper Elvira Herzog saved from close range after eight minutes. Klara Bühl’s ensuing corner found Oberdorf, who headed home (10’). The midfielder, who made her debut as a starter after a 14-month spell on the sidelines, scored her maiden goal in FCB colours. The away side continued to dominate proceedings but failed to extend their lead before half-time.

Second-half dominance
The pattern remained much the same after the restart. Georgia Stanway drew a comfortable save from Herzog after 54 mintues, but Oberdorf soon drilled the ball into the top corner of the net two minutes later. Katharina Naschenweng now made her comeback after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury (64’). Munich were lucky when sub Giovanna Hoffmann hit the bar from distance after 79 minutes. Tanikawa (88’) hit the woodwork at the other end, but Gilles (90’+1) rounded off the scoreline from a corner.

Home match against Jena
The double winners will be back in action on Saturday when they entertain Carl Zeiss Jena in the Women’s Bundesliga. The game kicks off at the FC Bayern Campus at 14:00 CEST.
