FC Bayern Women are through to the semi-finals of the DFB Cup thanks to a 3-0 win away at Hamburg on Wednesday evening. The holders went ahead inside seven minutes through Edna Imade, before Franziska Kett and Natalia Padilla Bidas made sure of the result in the second half at the Volksparkstadion.
The draw for the final four will be made later on Wednesday night. The games are scheduled for 4-6 April.

Imade strikes early
Bayern controlled proceedings from the start up north and went ahead early on when Giulia Gwinn got down the right and crossed into the box. Goalkeeper Lea Paulick wasn’t able to gather the ball, allowing Imade to head in.
José Barcala’s side retained a firm grip on the game as HSV struggled to get out of their own half. But it wasn’t until the 33rd minute that Bayern had their next good chance when Barbara Dunst dribbled into the area and fired off a shot that Paulick was able to save. Pernille Harder had the next opportunity from a corner but couldn’t get enough power behind her header.

Kett ensures progress
The pattern of play remained the same in the second half as Bayern pushed Hamburg back. Paulick dealt with a Gwinn free-kick crossed into the area as she came to punch clear. Arianna Caruso played Harder through on goal, but she was chased down by Annaleen Böhler.
Bayern finally doubled their lead after the hour mark when Kett picked up the ball on the edge of the area, dribbled past Paulick and slotted into the empty goal. The hosts showed more endeavour in the closing stages and had their best chance in the 83rd minute through Christin Meyer, but the holders put the tie to bed a couple of minutes from time when substitute Padilla Bidas put away a corner.

To Cologne then Essen
Bayern are back in action when they play away at Köln in the Bundesliga on Sunday (17:00 CET). They are on the road again the following Friday as they visit Essen for Matchday 21 (18:30).
