FCB Women wow 24,000 fans in prestigious win

What a spectacle at the Allianz Arena! In front of a record crowd of 24,000, FC Bayern Women were rewarded for an outstanding display with a 3-1 victory over a star-studded FC Barcelona team. Klara Bühl, Lina Magull and Lea Schüller were on the scoresheet for Munich, giving the enthusiastic fans an early Christmas present. fcbayern.com looks back on the highlights of a wonderful evening:

Birthday girl Bühl sets Bayern on their way

Dream come true: Klara Bühl gave herself a birthday present with her goal.

Bühl couldn’t have asked for a better present for her 22nd birthday. Less than four minutes had been played when the Bayern attacker burst into the penalty area and put FCB in front with an exceptional finish from Sydney Lohmann’s cross. Bühl and the whole Bayern attack were clearly delighted about the early strike and even more determined to get revenge for the defeat in the reverse fixture. With that, the night could hardly have started better for Alexander Straus and his side. The foundation had been laid for a great victory - and Bayern were far from done there.

Magull sends the Allianz Arena wild

Just six minutes later, Magull was brilliantly played in and netted the second goal of the night as Bayern’s explosive start was rewarded. The 28-year-old midfielder didn’t just shine as a clinical finisher in front of goal, though - the Germany international impressed throughout with her body language and presence on the field, against a Barça side who were unbeaten up to this point. And then, in the second half, the skipper set up Schüller for the third goal with a sublime cross, which all but wrapped up the win for Bayern. Magull’s performance didn’t go unnoticed as she was deservedly crowned ‘Player of the Match’.

Record crowd at the Allianz Arena: Never before have so many spectators attended an FCB Women home match.

It wasn’t just the team’s performance that could be described as world-class on this memorable night in Munich; the atmosphere in the stands was also on another level. The 24,000 fans supported the Reds from the beginning and created an electric atmosphere in north Munich. Under the watchful eyes of Bayern president Herbert Hainer and Germany coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the home side celebrated another milestone in the history of FC Bayern Women!
