It was not only thrilling games like the 3-1 win over Barcelona at the Allianz Arena that showed the FC Bayern Women have played inspiring football in the Hinrunde so far. The figures also clearly reflect the performance of Alexander Straus' side, who when compared nationally hold many of the best records in the Bundesliga. fcbayern.com has picked out five statistics that underline the strengths of the Munich women in the Bundesliga season so far.
Possession football and defensive superiority
With just three goals conceded in the first ten games of the season, FCB Women were clearly the best defensive team in the Bundesliga Hinrunde. Although the Munich women couldn't match their own record in this competition (just one goal conceded after 10 games in 2020/21), they once again impressed with a strong defensive performance. Alexander Straus' side allowed just 79 shots on goal, a league best along with VfL Wolfsburg. The foundation for this is a simple but efficient approach to the game: as long as a Bayern player has the ball, the opponents can't score. Bayern therefore relied on possession and played the most passes per game in the league (575). Of course, goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs also played a big part in the Bavarians' defensive strength: The 21-year-old has conceded just three times in ten games this season, kept a clean sheet in eight games and saved 82% of the opponents' shots on goal - the best statistic among the first-choice goalkeepers in the Bundesliga.

Top new signing Stanway makes a huge impact
Georgia Stanway has only been pulling on the FC Bayern jersey since the start of the season, but it's now hard to imagine the team without her. No other player has had such a strong impact on their side's attacking play in the current Bundesliga season as FCB's new summer signing. In the Hinrunde, the Euro 2022 winner was involved in more shots on goal from open play (63) than any other player in the German top flight - whether as a shot-taker, provider or as a participant in a move that resulted in a shot. 11 of these 63 game situations resulted in a goal, bettered only by her teammates Linda Dallmann (13) and Sarah Zadrazil (12) in the league.

Key player Dallmann extends and delivers
Linda Dallmann recently extended her contract with FC Bayern until 2026 and will continue to demonstrate her scoring prowess in the red and white jersey in the years to come. In nine league appearances so far this season, she's scored five goals and provided four assists - her nine direct goal contributions are the most at FCB, surpassed only by Wolfsburg's Ewa Pajor (12). In particular, the midfielder's expansive runs with the ball repeatedly put opposing defences under pressure: four Bayern goals this season came after a so-called "carry" by Dallmann (two goals, two assists), i.e. running with the ball for at least five metres. That was more than any other Bundesliga player.
Simon impressive both in attack and defence
Full-back Carolin Simon won 73% of her challenges, making her the second-best defender in the league (at least 20 challenges) after Bremen's Hanna Németh (75%). But the 30-year-old is not only an effective defender, she also knows how to cleverly set up her team-mates. Simon has already laid on five goals, making her the best provider in the league. In particular, she sends opposing defences into a cold sweat when it comes to dead ball situations: Four of her five assists came from set-pieces, the best statistic in the league (alongside Wolfsburg's Felicitas Rauch).

Schüller is efficient
Last season's top scorer Lea Schüller is currently lying third in the current campaign with six goals, but it's her efficiency that has been particularly convincing. She's scored on average every 100 minutes this season (601 minutes on the pitch). Of all the players who have played at least 250 minutes, only Ewa Pajor surpasses her in this respect: the Wolfsburg player has actually scored on average every 64 minutes (510 minutes, 8 goals).
