Finally back at home! FC Bayern Women entertain 1. FC Köln at the FC Bayern Campus on Matchday 2 of the 2023/24 Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga season. Winning run: Bayern have triumphed in all 10 of their Bundesliga meetings with Köln, keeping a clean sheet in nine of those. The only FC goals came in a 5-2 win for FCB on 3 November 2019. Since then there have been two 6-0 wins, two 4-0s and a 5-0 for the reigning German champions.
Last time we met: Bayern last faced Köln on Matchday 15 of last season at the Franz-Kremer-Stadion. The Munich girls dominated against the team who finished in ninth (60% possession and 16-6 shots on goal) and already led 5-0 at half-time. Klara Bühl netted a brace while Sydney Lohmann, Lina Magull and Maximiliane Rall were also on the scoresheet, with all the goals coming from open play.
Strong left foot: Katharina Naschenweng opened her account in her first Bundesliga game for Bayern against SC Freiburg. Since the beginning of last season, she's scored all seven of her Bundesliga goals with his left foot. No player has found the net more often with their left in this period (Alexandra Popp and Jill Baijings have also scored seven left-footed goals).
Home strength: Bayern have won each of their last 18 home matches in the Bundesliga, by an aggregate score of 74-8 - a club record that FCB can further extend against Köln.
Reunion: Köln coach Daniel Weber knows the FC Bayern Campus well. He worked as a player developer and boys' U16 coach at FCB from 2021 to 2023. Prior to that, the former goalkeeper spent many years at VfR Garching (from 2007 to 2010 as a player and from 2010 to 2019 as a coach). He saw the club rise from the Bezirksliga to the Regionalliga. The 50-year-old has been head coach of the Köln women's side since the start of July.
