Carolin Simon is staying in Munich! The Germany international has extended her contract with FC Bayern until 2025. The 30-year-old full-back joined FCB from Olympique Lyonnais in 2019 and has since made 104 appearances in a Bayern shirt. Simon was part of the team that won the Bundesliga title in both 2021 and 2023. The Kassel-born defender is currently working on her comeback from the cruciate ligament tear she suffered in July of this year.
Simon: Can still win lots of trophies!
In previous years, Simon has been a constant factor in FCB Women's success with her qualities and her determination, and she still has big ambitions with the club: "I've been trying to play my part in the team's success for years, on and off the pitch. We've made big strides forward as a team in recent years and I'm sure we can still win lots of trophies together, including in Europe."
As well as the joint successes, it was also a strong connection to the club that made it an easy decision for the 22-time-capped international to extend her contract again. "After the years we've had, there's a very big identification with the club," explained Simon. "I've had a lot of nice moments here, with the title last season obviously being a particular highlight. I feel the trust of the club and the management, and hope I can repay that. Therefore, I'm looking forward to everything that comes."
Rech: One of the best left-footers in the world
Bianca Rech, head of the women's football department at FC Bayern, is looking to the future with Simon: "Caro is an important part of the team, on and off the pitch. She had one of her best seasons since she's been at Bayern last year. In my view, she's one of the best left-footers in the world. We want to support her in her return to the pitch in the best possible way and we're 100 percent convinced she'll come back strong again."
Weronika Zawistowska also extended her contract until 2025 recently:
