A number of FC Bayern Women players are currently on international duty. As well as Germany's third-place playoff in the UEFA Women's Nations League, relegation matches and friendlies were also on the schedule. Here's a round-up of the latest results.
Germany in battle for final Olympics spot
Paris here we come! After losing 2-1 to France in the Nations League semi-finals, the German national team used their last chance to qualify for the Olympics. Horst Hrubesch's side triumphed 2-0 in the third-place playoff against Netherlands to book their place at this summer's Games. Klara Bühl, Giulia Gwinn and Sydney Lohmann were all in the starting line-up again, while Lea Schüller helped the team for the second half. Linda Dallmann did not feature.
Both goals came from the Bavarian contingent, with Bühl opening the scoring in the 66th minute with a fine finish into the far corner, before Schüller netted with a header in the 78th minute. As a result, the German women's team will travel to Paris for the Olympics in July.
The defeat to Germany means Netherlands and Jill Baijings finish the Nations League in fourth place and don't qualify for the Olympics. Baijings didn't feature in the encounter.
Other FCB Women in Nations League action
Following the group stage of the Nations League, the playoffs for promotion and relegation took place. In the clash between Sweden and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Swedish team featuring Linda Sembrant won 5-0 in both legs to stay in League A.
Meanwhile, an 8-0 aggregate victory over Croatia guaranteed Norway and Tuva Hansen their place in League A. The Bayern player came on in the 71st minute of the first leg and started in the second game.
In the playoff second leg between Serbia and Iceland, Jovana Damnjanović and Glódís Viggósdóttir again came up against each other. Like the first leg, which ended 1-1, the FCB duo both started. The Serbians took an early lead but Iceland equalised in the 75th minute before netting the winner in the 86th, meaning they remain in League A.
Scotland in Pinater Cup
Sam Kerr and Scotland took part in the Pinater Cup during this international break in the Spanish town of San Pedro del Pinatar. The Scots won 3-0 against Philippines and met Finland in the final, which Kerr started. With the score at 1-1 after regular time, there were no further goals in extra time. Scotland lost 5-4 in the penalty shootout and had to settle for second place.
Bayern clash in friendly
England got the chance to prove themselves in a friendly against Italy. The Lionesses went in front inside the first minute and ran out 5-1 winners in the end, with Georgia Stanway playing from the start.
Austrian duo Sarah Zadrazil and Katharina Naschenweng came up against their Danish teammate Pernille Harder in a friendly. The latter levelled the score at 1-1 after Austria had taken the lead in the 11th minute, and that was how it stayed. Zadrazil and Harder started in Marbella, while Naschenweng came on at half-time for the Austrians.
German youth teams
In the Nations Tournament, the German U20 side kicked off against Spain. Munich girls Alara Şehitler and Franziska Kett were in the starting XI, but youth keeper Juliane Schmid was not involved. While Kathrin Peter's side lost 3-1 to the Spaniards, they claimed a 2-1 win over Mexico three days later. Sehitler and Kett again started.
Carla Schwarz and Carlotta Schwoerer from the Bayern Women reserves were on their travels with the German U19s, who also played in a friendly tournament. They registered a 3-0 defeat to their Dutch counterparts and a 2-2 draw against Italy two days later. The two FCB players featured in both games.
FCB U20 trio Greta Hünten, Paula Rintzner and Celina Senftl were selected for the German U17 squad. They took on Sweden's U17s last Saturday and drew 1-1. In their next game, the U17 girls beat Italy 2-0. Hünten and Senftl started both matches, while Rintzner played the second half of the second fixture.
