5 facts on FCB Women's top-of-the-table clash at Wolfsburg

Top-of-the-table clash! On Saturday, 23 March at 17:45 CET, FC Bayern Women are away to VfL Wolfsburg. After their 5-0 win at home against RB Leipzig, the Munich side have extended their lead over the Wolves just in time for the game against the second-placed team in the table. fcbayern.com has put together all the key facts relating to the match for you.

1. Clash of the titans

The battle between the league leaders and their closest rivals isn't just a meeting of the best teams in the league. While Munich have the second-best attack with 38 goals behind Wolfsburg (45 goals), the defence led by captain Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir have conceded the fewest goals (five). The Wolves are in second place with 12 goals conceded.

2. Schüller vs. Pajor

Lea Schüller's brace last Saturday in the 5-0 rout of RB Leipzig took her tally to eight goals and four assists for the season. Only Wolfsburg striker Ewa Pajor has notched up more (14 combined).

3. A gathering of internationals

FCB Women's trip to Wolfsburg will bring together numerous Germany internationals. The squad for the UEFA Women's Nations League Final Four tournament in February included eight players from the Wolves and five from FC Bayern.

4. Record favours Bayern

Bayern have a slight edge in the head-to-head record. In total, the two teams have met 45 times in the Bundesliga, with the reigning German champions coming out on top 18 times. FCB went down to Wolfsburg 16 times, while 11 of the matches ended in draws. Most recently, the Munich women celebrated a 2-1 win at home at the FC Bayern Campus in front of 4,347 spectators.

5. Best away team

The FC Bayern Women celebrate

The FCB Women have often had reason to cheer on the road - like here in Frankfurt.

Although the FCB Women have played one fewer away game than Wolfsburg, head coach Alexander Straus' side still top the away table. In seven games away from home, the Munich women have picked up 17 points, one more than VfL.
